Wednesday was first introduced to her mom, Morgan, in 2003. She and her sister, Pugsley Anne, were tumbling over each other just to get closer to their new mom, who adopted them both that day. From that point on, Morgan’s world was filled with happiness (and chaos).
They moved around the country, eventually settling down in Los Angeles. Wednesday was an easy traveling partner, and the most outgoing, adventurous pup Morgan had ever had. She would greet everyone, but only bring the special people to meet her mom.
In 2011, when Wednesday was eight years old, she was diagnosed with cancer.
Despite this grim diagnosis, she wasn’t going to take it lying down. She had multiple mast cell tumors that required surgery, chemotherapy, and intensive targeted therapy. But she was still young and feisty, and fought hard every step of the way. She even managed to meet one of her best friends while receiving her cancer care. She lived another six full years!
Morgan remembers how Wednesday could have used more help in managing her pain and improving her appetite, but unfortunately, there weren’t many options for this at the time. Her oncologist, Dr. Hazzah, recalls using only conventional treatment for Wednesday, no herbs or cannabis. Regrettably, the benefits of medicinal cannabis were largely unknown in the veterinary world at the time. Needless to say, she would have been treated very differently today.
Wednesday would have wanted to help all her friends, both animal and human. Dr. Hazzah remembers her as “the sweetest girl ever.” She was a truly unique pup, who was never afraid to try anything. One of her special gifts was to help others in need by giving many face licks, which would always lift their mood and make them smile.
